Chattanooga firefighters responded to what they said was a suspicious house fire early this morning.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. at 1515 Arlington Ave. The renter had reportedly moved out a few days prior to the incident and electrical service had been cut off, according to a news release.

Lt. Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division said in the release that the cause of the fire was suspicious and that the investigation will continue.

Firefighters contained the flames to the bathroom and kitchen area, but the rest of the structure suffered smoke and water damage.

The damage is estimated to be $10,000, the release said. No injuries were reported.
