A Hendersonville man confronted by a neighbor for planting large flowers the neighbor said posed a safety hazard, has been charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault for holding the neighbor at knife point, according to a police affidavit.

Marshall T. Benhard, 29 of Indian Lake Road, was arrested and charged July 17 after Hendersonville police were called to the home of a neighbor at around 8:30 p.m.

When police arrived, they located the female neighbor who had injuries that appeared to have been sustained by a knife to her chin, throat and arm area. Police say the injuries were non-life threatening, and that the incident was a result of an ongoing neighborhood dispute between Benhard and the victim's family. The neighbor was taken by ambulance to Hendersonville Medical Center, according to the affidavit.
