Ex-Alabama police officer arrested in 2 robberies

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Police in Birmingham have arrested one of their own officers and charged him with robbery and ethics violations.

Officials said Thursday that 27-year-old T'Derek Luster is accused in two robberies involving the same victim on July 13 and July 17.

Police spokesman Sgt. Johnny Williams says Luster was off duty when the alleged robberies took place. Authorities have not disclosed details about the robberies, but Williams says investigators found evidence supporting the victim's allegations.

Officials say Luster resigned from the department before he was arrested.

Luster is charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of ethics violations. He's being held on $1 million bond.

It's unclear if he has an attorney.
