Highway 58 will be getting a bit of a facelift thanks to a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation secretary, according to a news release.

Roy LaHood awarded Tennessee $1.4 million for a number of asphalt pavement resurfacing projects, and Hamilton County's own Highway 58 is scheduled to benefit from the funds.

The award was a fraction of the total $16 million awarded to 13 states and the District of Columbia to improve safety, create jobs and improve the quality of the nation's transportation infrastructure, the release states.

Other highways on the roster for improvement are State Route 331 in Knox County, U.S. 64 in Lincoln County and U.S. 412 in Crockett County.
