Jon Massey hired to coach Ooltewah softball

Jon Massey has been named successor to Norma Nelson as softball coach at Ooltewah High.

Massey, who has been at the school for the past 12 years, has served as a football assistant and head baseball coach. He is an Ooltewah alumnus.

"With his background in baseball and his work ethic, he'll be fine," Ooltewah athletic director Jim Jarvis said. "His work ethic is what initially attracted us to Jon and caused us to offer him the position."

Massey went from Ooltewah to Tennessee on a baseball scholarship and spent two years in Knoxville before transferring to Birmingham Southern.
