KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The 150th anniversary of the Civil War battles of Fort Sanders and Campbell's Station is being marked this week near Knoxville.

The event starts Thursday, with Thursday and Friday mornings set aside for school group tours. The program opens to the public on Friday afternoon, featuring period military demonstrations, presentations and public lectures.

A brass band will play Civil War-era instruments, and Dan Paterson, the great-great-grandson of the Confederate commander during the battle, is expected to attend.

Re-enactment will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the site near Corryton. Organizers expect as many as 1,000 re-enactors.

Admission to the re-enactments is $8 for adults and free to children younger than 6, with a maximum of $30 for a family of four or more.
