DALLAS, Ga. - Some Paulding County residents claim that public officials violated Georgia's open meetings law in discussing plans to create would what would be another commercial airport for metro Atlanta.
In a lawsuit, the group maintains that the Paulding County Airport Authority violated the open meetings act by improperly holding closed sessions. They also say the authority failed to give adequate public notice of a two-day retreat, where it discussed plans to commercialize the airport.
The lawsuit, filed this week in Paulding County Superior Court, is the latest legal challenge aimed at stopping plans to commercialize flights at Silver Comet Field northwest of Atlanta.
Airport Director Blake Swafford tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the authority board has made changes in the way it operates and will consider other changes if they're needed.
