Volkswagen Group of America has appointed Scott C. Vazin as the company's executive vice president of group communications.

Vazin will be responsible for all aspects of corporate communications for the Volkswagen Group and Volkswagen brand in the U.S.

This includes corporate media relations, product communications, all public relations campaigns, internal communications, community partnerships and philanthropy.

Vazin, 47, joined the company in March 2011 as the vice president of communications for the Volkswagen brand.

He will continue to report to Michael Horn, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America. Vazin most recently served as vice president and chief communications officer for Volkswagen of America.

"Strengthening our group communications team is critical to achieving our long-term growth goals in the U.S. market," said Horn. "Scott brings a wealth of automotive and leadership experience, and will continue to contribute to the strategic and operational oversight of our Group and Brand communications."

Prior to joining Volkswagen, Vazin spent 15 years with Nissan in numerous communications roles. Vazin started his automotive career at Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America in California in 1990.
