A police chase on I-75 Tuesday ended when the vehicle being pursued went down an embankment near the Hiwassee River Bridge, and landed on its roof.

The driver of the vehicle, Julian D J Taylor, 23, of University Park, Ill., was checked for injuries at a local hospital before being taken to the Bradley County Jail.

The chase began when a detective assigned to the Special Investigations Unit stopped Taylor near exit 27 after confirming with dispatch that the vehicle's tag was registered to a different car. When the detective approached the vehicle, the suspect sped off.

Several agencies responded to help with the chase, which continued on Lauderdale Memorial Highway before returning to the interstate.

Taylor is charged with resisting arrest, misuse of plates, evading and reckless endangerment. His bond is set at $5,000.
