Tuscaloosa police arrest 8 men they say solicited sex

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.-- Tuscaloosa police say they arrested eight men on charges of soliciting prostitution in an undercover operation.

Police say the eight men contacted an undercover officer and met her at a hotel after police placed an ad online that was similar to other ads used for prostitution. All eight men contacted the undercover officer during a six-hour period Thursday.

Tuscaloosa police said in a news release Monday that they are putting their focus on men who solicit prostitution and are also trying to provide help to those who are forced into prostitution or want to escape it.

The eight men range in age from 22 to 44. They each face a single count of soliciting prostitution and were booked into the Tuscaloosa County jail on $1,000 bond.
