A DeKalb County, Ala., constable who was resisting being evicted from his residence has been arrested, Sheriff Jimmy Harris' office said.

Deputies went to the home occupied by Kneeley Pack, 42, to serve a court order requiring him to leave and give the owner possession of the residence.

Pack was "unruly and uncooperative and tried to prevent them from serving the court order," Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson said in a news release. Deputies charged Pack with obstructing government operations.

Constables are elected county officials under the Alabama Constitution, with power to enforce traffic and criminal codes.
