Three Chattanooga gang members fled from police in a stolen truck and then crashed into a building on McCallie Avenue around 11:50 p.m. Monday.

The incident started when a police officer ran radar on the truck and attempted to pull the vehicle over after clocking the truck at 62 mph in a 35-mph zone, according to police.

The suspects -- Brandon Arnold, 22, Dominique Jarrett, 20, and Edward Duckett, 20 -- crashed a few minutes later into the R.J. Rice building at 1098 McCallie Ave.

When officers arrived at the crash, they found Duckett and Jarrett lying injured on the ground. The two told police that they'd been struck by the truck and that the people in the truck had attempted to rob them.

Police later determined that the two men were actually in the truck and had concocted the robbery story.

Officers found the third suspect hiding under a large passenger van at 1100 Chamberlain Ave., about two blocks from the crash. He ran from police on foot but was taken into custody.

When investigators searched the stolen truck, a red Toyota Tundra, they found crack cocaine, scales and four cellphones inside.

Investigators also found a semi-automatic 9 mm pistol that was loaded with a 15-round magazine, as well as a .40 Smith and Wesson with a 30-round magazine.

Arnold was charged with theft, possession of drugs for resale, alteration of an item's permanent number, evading arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was still in custody in the Hamilton County Jail on Tuesday.

Police could not immediately confirm the charges against Duckett and Jarrett.
