Sheriff's office: One killed early Saturday in single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Cummings Highway

One man was killed in the early-morning hours of Saturday when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit the guard rail on Cummings Highway, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred at 12:48 a.m. on the 2100 block of Cummings Highway, the release states.

Sheriff's office traffic investigators were notified and dispatched to the scene "due to the extent of the injuries of the rider," the release reads.

The investigators believe it was a single-vehicle, single-occupant traffic fatality.

"It appears the rider was operating his motorcycle west on Cummings Highway when he lost control of the motorcycle and hit the guard rail," the release states. "The motorcycle continued to slide on the roadway and the rider went under the guard rail and came to rest."

The name of the motorcyclist was not released and no further details were immediately available Saturday evening. The incident remains an active investigation, the release states.
