A Chattanooga police officer was arrested by Collegedale police over the weekend after being accused of domestic assault.

Collegedale police were called to the 9100 block of Integra Hills Lane Saturday just after 6 p.m. and spoke to a woman who said she'd been in an argument with Gregory Stroud, 33, when he grabbed her by the arm, according to an arrest report.

She told police she tried to punch him but missed and he then briefly took her to the ground and asked, "Are you done?"

Other than a red mark under her hair, police didn't note any evidence of a physical altercation on the woman's body, the arrest report states.

Stroud did admit to arguing with the woman and that she tried to punch him but said it did not escalate to an altercation, according to the arrest report.

Nevertheless, Stroud was arrested and charged with simple domestic assault.

His personal firearms were removed from his home due to his conditions of release from jail. And his city-issued firearm was taken by Chattanooga police until the criminal case has been resolved.

Stroud was placed on administrative leave pending criminal investigation by Collegedale police, Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman Elisa Myzal said. He was hired in April 2015 and is a patrol officer in Chattanooga's Neighborhood Policing Bureau.
