One suspect in early morning shooting arrested

One of the two suspects in the E. 49th St. shooting earlier today at was arrested tonight, police said.

Corey Ball, 22, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery. He was found in Ringgold, Ga., and is currently at the Catoosa County Justice Center awaiting extradition to Tennessee, Chattanooga police spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said in a news release.

At around 12:30 this morning, police responded to 719 E. 49th Street in Chattanooga and found Johnny Tripp, 35, with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and thighs. Police believe Tripp was robbed before he was shot, Weary said.

Police are still looking for a second suspect, Weary said.
