Wacker site construction in Bradley CountyCHARLESTON, Tenn. - Two construction workers have been killed at the site of the new Wacker Polysilicon plant in Charleston.
Bradley County Fire Chief Dewey Woody said the workers fell about 140 feet after a work platform failed late Wednesday night. There were no other injuries.
About 1,000 workers per day are employed during the construction in Bradley County.
In a company statement, Wacker Polysilicon Vice President and Site Manager Dr. Konrad Bachhuber said the company is deeply saddened by the loss of life.
