Hamilton County Department of Education reported that students at Central High School will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m. due to flooding. Buses will run their regular routes.

Walker County police reported that they have barricaded Chattanooga Road at South Avenue. They also indicated a tree is down on Old Grand Center Road at Old Chattanooga Valley Road.
In addition to low-lying ares in Chattanooga reporting flooding conditions, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office also noted the following as impassable and blocked roads due to high water:
-- Barricaded: 9000 Dallas Hollow Road, 10200 Hamby Road, 2100 Green Pond Road, and 2814 Igou Ferry Road.
-- Water on Roadway: 6500 Hunter Road, 9100 Ooltewah Georgetown Road, 8100 Smith Road, 6800 Shorttail Springs Road, 10600 Dolly Pond Road, and 9600 Snowhill Road.
-- There is a tree across the roadway at 2318 Gold Point Circle.
The eastern half of Tennessee and Alabama's northeastern counties are under a flood watch in the face of expected heavy rains, forecasters say.
The National Weather Service says storms crossing into the Tennessee Valley will bring rainfall totals from 1 to 3 inches by today, and some areas could get as much as 5 inches of rain.
Streams along the Tennessee River will rise because of storm runoff, forecasters say.
Most of the heavy rain is expected east of Interstate 65, with the Cumberland Plateau most likely to receive it.
Two to 4 inches of rain was expected from the Chattanooga area up the Tennessee River Valley through Knoxville and into Kentucky.
Forecasters say northern Georgia should receive 2 to 2.5 inches of rain over the next two days.

You all know the spots in the road that flood every time there is a heavy rain. That is going to be the most widespread threat we see today.
With that said, overnight there were some reports to the National Weather Service of "water encroaching on some homes in the Chattanooga and Red Bank Areas. Partial road closures reported in East Ridge".
We can expect scattered showers (not as heavy as overnight) to continue on and off through the morning, then this afternoon the front will push through and sweep out the rain. Cool and dry weather will move in late today as our high reaches only 74. Tonight, look for lows to drop into the upper 40s in the outlying areas and low 50s in town. Read more at wrcbtv.com
