Ooltewah is a historic and very important area of our community. It is home to many fine residences and businesses. And now there is the prospect of much more positive development.
About 135 now-vacant acres of Ooltewah along Lee Highway are on the brink of being made into a development called Cambridge Square.
There are detailed plans for the homes and commercial establishments, which will be built in phases, creating jobs and economic growth.
The residential, school and commercial developments that already are positive parts of the Ooltewah community should be enhanced and energized by the estimated $10 million in welcome growth from Phase 1 of the project.
That should be the ideal kind of progress that we welcome in our area, not far from central Chattanooga.
