New Ganns school well deserved

I can attest to the need in the community for the new Ganns Middle Valley Elementary School that is now under construction. In 1941, at the age of 6, I was a first-grade student in the school. I returned there in 1956 as a teacher and taught in the building for 37 years and four months.

At that time, we didn't know what air conditioning was. We just raised the big sliding glass windows and, yes, we had the birds fly in and splatter our walls and chalkboards. During those years roofs leaked, the wood floors creaked and water fountains were rusted. I can speculate that the only person to spend more time in that old building would be Gary Waters and his maintenance crew.

Many thanks also to Mayor Jim Coppinger and the County Commission who made this possible.

Finally, congratulations to Mr. Waters, who is retiring, for his significant role in the construction of this new school and for your many years of outstanding service to the Hamilton County Department of Education.

Hillary, the great deceiver, strikes again?

Consistent with her reputation as a great deceiver, Hillary Clinton, in her brief news conference Tuesday, obviously tried to shift the media focus from her destruction of so-called "personal emails" to those now in possession of the State Department. And the news media, seemingly, is accepting this deceptive ploy without critical comment.

Needless to say, the ongoing deception of the Clintons, and particularly Hillary's 40-year record of dishonesty, is beyond the pale. How the Democrats could nominate this woman, with practically no accomplishments, is difficult to understand.

Any objective look at her track record as a senator and secretary of state would confirm the no-accomplishments conclusion, as well as her serious errors of judgment and management control in the State Department.

Hillary, the next president of the United States? I don't think so! The voters have elected one under-qualified Democrat. Another is simply out of the question.

In God we must trust but we must always do our part to secure and promote the truth and a better way, to protect our freedom and interests and to defend the Judeo-Christian American way.

Conservatism dangerous to society

Modern conservatism: It pervades and dominates the Republican party. It is without conscience, compassion and kindness. It employs deception and ignores and maligns logic and proofs when counter to its self-serving ends. Unhappily, millions are unaware of its nature as it is clever in masking its insidiousness, e.g., claiming fealty to God and flag.

Only conservative, upper middle class, Caucasian American Christian males are considered worthy of various honors and privileges. Interestingly, some of these superior beings readily submit one another to harm when personal gain might be forthcoming, e.g., plotting and creating war for money and power.

The welfare of the nation and its citizens is of no concern. Self-interest is everything, regardless of injury to people, the environment, other nations, democracy and more.

Without strong government, who will protect us from these sociopaths?
