Team doctors for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga have cleared freshman guard Anthanee Doyle to begin participating in basketball practice after dealing with an undisclosed illness for more than two months.

"He's in an acclimation period," UTC coach Will Wade said. "We're in the process of acclimating him and building his conditioning up. We're trying to get him back in shape and get him back going."

The 6-foot-1 Doyle committed to play for Mocs assistant coach Wes Long at Queens University of Charlotte and followed Long to UTC. He scored 1,065 points in his career at Holly Springs, N.C.

Wade said it's unlikely Doyle will play next Friday in UTC's season opener against Covenant. He cited the Nov. 16 game against Montreat as a target to get Doyle playing in a game.

"He could help us out there," Wade said. "But we're still in a wait-and-see mode. He can have a role for us and give us a jolt when we get him going."
