Vanlandingham signs with UTC

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team filled its final scholarship for the 2014-15 season Friday, signing former UT-Martin standout Sydney Vanlandingham.

The 5-foot-11 forward, who prepped at Wilson Central, appeared in 32 games and averaged 3.9 points and two rebounds during the 2012-13 season, her freshman year for the Lady Skyhawks. Eighty-seven of her 123 shots were 3-point tries, where she shot 28.7 percent.

She spent the last school year as a regular student at UTC and has three years of eligibility remaining.

"We're fortunate to have someone with intercollegiate experience," UTC coach Jim Foster said in a school release.

The Mocs lost five seniors off a team that finished 29-4 and lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
