Ryan qualifies for China world meet

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Hixson's Sean Ryan, the former McCallie School and Scenic City Aquatic Club swimmer who just finished his freshman year at Michigan, qualified Friday for the World Open Water Championships in China next month by finishing second in the U.S. nationals 10-kilometer race. The 10k distance will be contested in the 2012 Olympics in London, and Ryan can assure himself a spot there with a top-10 finish in China. He will swim Sunday in the 5k. Harvard's Alex Meyer finished first Friday.
