NASHVILLE-Top-ranked GPS trailed Briarcrest Christian 30-17 at halftime of their Division II-AA state championship basketball game today at Lipscomb University.

The Bruisers had no answer for Briarcrest's 6-foot-1 post Lauren Douglas, who scored 20 of her team's first-half total. Douglas, a junior who sat out all but the last three games this season after transferring from Houston High in Germantown, also had 11 rebounds.

GPS Miss Basketball finalist Chadarryl Clay struggled in the first half, making just 1 of 11 field-goal attempts and scoring three points. The Bruisers (22-1) have won 14 straight games coming into the title game and are trying for their first championship since 2000.
