TSWA all-state soccer includes area 13

Thirteen area players were named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state boys' soccer team for 2012.

The Class A/AA team had six area players, including three from state sectional participant East Hamilton: senior defender Steven Sloan, freshman midfielder Jose Orellana and senior forward Daniel Duk. Notre Dame's Wes Blanton and Boyd-Buchanan's Mason Wortman were chosen as midfielders, while East Ridge's Jonathan Rodriguez made the team as a goalkeeper.

Ooltewah had two players selected in Class AAA, as did both Baylor and McCallie in Division II. The Owls were represened by two-time District 5-AAA defensive player of the year Sean McLain and district offensive player of the year and overall MVP Felipe' Munoz. Another AAA all-stater was Bradley Central's Miles Christian, who scored more than 30 goals each of his last two seasons.

McCallie senior midfielder Arturo Rocha and junior forward Hunter Brock made the team for the state semifinalists, while goalkeeper Henrique Ribeiro and defender Rodrigo Alonso were chosen for Division II-AA state champion Baylor.
