"It's really pretty and the campus has a small-town feel," Clark said. "I didn't want to go to a big school. I wanted to go somewhere where I could be familiar with the people around me instead of somewhere where there's 10,000 people and you can feel lost."
Clark hit .325 in the Lady Red Raiders' 35-5 regular season with three home runs and eight doubles. She drove in 20 runs and scored 21.
"Over the last two years she's made a tremendous commitment, especially at the plate, and worked toward the goal of playing at the next level," Baylor coach Kelli Smith said. "She's our emotional leader in addition to being a leader on the field. She's helped oversee offseason workouts and taken the leadership role very seriously. She's been invaluable to us."
Clark said she intends to major in pre-pharmacy but has secondary plans of studying sports science.
Wiseman to Morehead
Grundy County senior post Chelsey Wiseman has signed a basketball scholarship with Morehead (Ky.) State in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The 6-foot Wiseman was a four-time All-District 7-AA selection and ended her high school career averaging 21.7 points and seven rebounds per game. She also had 90 total steals, 82 blocked shots and 2,196 points career points.
"Playing basketball in college has always been a dream for me, and now it's coming true and I'm so excited," Wiseman said. "I'm ready for the next chapter in my life."
Temple gets Thomas
South Pittsburg senior outfielder Josh Thomas has signed a scholarship to play baseball for Tennessee Temple University.
Thomas currently is batting .400 with 43 runs scored, 27 RBIs and 30 stolen bases for the Pirates, who wrapped up their second straight District 6-A tournament title this week.
Bobcats add Ivester
Trion's Hunter Ivester has signed enrollment papers to continue his basketball career at Georgia Northwestern Technical College. He also starred in football for the Bulldogs.
The 6-foot-1 guard will join forward Bud Todd on the Bobcats roster from Trion. Todd will be a sophomore captain for the NJCAA program.
"I was able to play with some of the guys recently, and I'm really excited about this opportunity," Ivester said.
"I'm very impressed with what Hunter brings to us," GNTC coach David Stephenson said. "He's solid academically and a double-digit scorer, but most noticeably he is a good young man with a lot of drive and focus for his age."
