McCallie gets four-star Atlanta transfer

An already talent-laden McCallie School junior class just added another gifted football prospect. Junior cornerback/receiver Nygel Edmonds, who played at Atlanta's Westminster last season and is rated a four-star recruit by 247Sports.com, has transferred to McCallie and will be eligible this season.

"We're very excited to have him join the team," Blue Tornado coach Ralph Potter said. "You watch his film and he has some great skills, so we're looking forward to what he can bring.

"He's got the great size and speed that college coaches everywhere are looking for in a cornerback, and you can easily see why he's rated so highly."

The 6-foot, 185-pound Edmonds already has scholarship offers from 10 FBS programs: Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.

He will give the Blue Tornado at least five college prospects in their junior class, joining quarterback JayVaughn Craig (6-3, 180) and lineman Corey McDonald (6-3, 265) as well as Trel Phillips (6-3, 215) and Jay Roberts (6-4, 220), who both likely will play tight end and either defensive end or linebacker.
