Lookouts rally to salvage split with Smokies

KODAK, Tenn.-The visiting Chattanooga Lookouts scored five runs in the sixth inning and won 6-5 in the second game of their Southern League baseball doubleheader Thursday afternoon against the Tennessee Smokies.

Tennessee won the first game 4-3 in eight innings, one more than scheduled.

In game two, the Lookouts (33-34) entered the sixth 5-1 and collected only two hits - a Kyle Russell single and an Ivan Ochoa double - but capitalized on Tennessee's three errors and a wild pitch.

The Smokies won the first game when Rebel Ridling opened the bottom of the eighth inning with a home run to right field. The Lookouts had pulled ahead 3-2 in the seventh on Elian Herrera's two-out single to right that scored Wilberto Ortiz, but Herrera committed a fielding error at second base in the bottom of the seventh that enabled Josh Vitters to reach second. Vitters was sacrificed to third and scored on Ryan Flaherty's infield hit.

Game three of a five-game series at Kodak is tonight at 7:15. Allen Webster (0-1, 2.84 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Christopher Rusin (3-2, 4.08) scheduled for the Smokies.
