Curtis Thornton

Curtis Leon Thornton, 68, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Health Center at Standifer Place.He was a retiree from Combustion Engineering. He was a faithful member of Piney Wood Baptist Church and served as a deacon until his health failed.He was preceded in death by his parents, T.J. and Mattie Jackson Thornton; and his brother, Edgar Jackson.He is survived by his son, Derrick L. Thornton, of Albuquerque, N.M.; stepson, Robert A. (Trabue) Brown Sr., of Chattanooga; two daughters, Erica Thornton, of Chattanooga, and Tenisa Thornton, of Jasper, Tenn.; six grandchildren; a host of aunts, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends; very devoted caregiver, Freddie M. Thornton.Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 in the Chapel with Pastor Ernest Tanner officiating.Interment in Highland Memorial Gardens.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 78 p.m. today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
