Fred Finchum

ROSSVILLE Fred Maurice Finchum, 71, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 21, 2013.He was born in Newport, Tenn., to the late, Hugh and Rilda Finchum, but had lived most of his life in Tennessee and Florida before moving to North Georgia in 2004 and was of the Baptist faith. He was a Marine Corps veteran and had previously worked in the restaurant industry for many years and then as a painter. He was a stock car driver in the 1970s and was an avid sportsman, who loved to golf, enjoyed NASCAR and Tennessee Vols Football.He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Hugh L. and Dennis Finchum; and sister, Lucy Rogers.Survivors include his loving wife of more than 31 years, Sandra Davis Finchum, of Rossville; two sons and daughter-in-law, Freddie Finchum of Lincoln, Neb., and Chris (Rolanda) Petherick, of Rossville; daughter, Kari Finchum; brother, Jerry Finchum, of Maryville, Tenn.; three sisters, Annis Faye Bowling, of Kentucky, Brenda Joyce Dyer and Donna Kay Roe, both of Maryville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Kaci, Kelsey, Kolby, Kassidy, Collin and Abe; lifelong friend, Dee Proffitt; his little dog, Willie; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East with Rev. Dale Lovelady officiating.The family will begin receiving friends after 6 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.Arrangements by W. L.
