Melb BrownLaFAYETTE Kathryn "Melb" Melvylene Brown, 81, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013.Melb was retired from the LaFayette City Police Department were she worked for many years as administrative assistant.She was a member of Harbor Lights Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. J.R. Brown; father and mother, James and Diver Bernice Shaw Alsabrook.Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and John Allen "Dooley" White, of LaFayette; grandchildren, Robert (Christy) White, Amanda White (William) Beyer; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, and Grayson White, all of LaFayette; sister, Jean Wilson; nephew, Rickey Wilson, both of LaFayette; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Billy and Reba Brown, Rudolph Blanks, all of Alabama, and Sue Brown, of Ringgold; several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral from Harbor Lights Baptist Church at 11 a.m. today Service conducted by Rev. Jim Powell and Rev. Dale Parker.Pallbearers are Stacey Meeks, Robbie Tate, Skipper Dunn, Wesley Steele, Johnny Scoggins and Jason Steadman.Honorary pallbearers are Joe Chambers, Tino Rivera, Mike James, Rev. Marshall Kellett, Sheriff Steve Wilson, Phil Summers and Kenny Careathers.Interment in LaFayette Memory Gardens.Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. today.The arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
