CHICKAMAUGA Sammy L. Townsend, 60, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in a local hospital.He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who loved music and spending time with his family and friends.He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel W. Townsend.Survivors include his mother, Mary Ruth Townsend, Chickamauga; brother, Rick (Susan) Townsend, Waleska, Ga.; nephew, Joseph Townsend, Lexington Park, Md.; niece, Sarah (Seth) Meador, Marietta, Ga.; aunts, Ruby Lee Frye, LaFayette, Ga., Ruby Akins, Chickamauga; and many cousins and friends.Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors.The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.Arrangements by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
