Raymond Amerson

ROSSVILLE Raymond "Ray" Virgil Amerson, 67, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, surrounded by his family.Ray was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia Area, who enjoyed NASCAR and restoring cars. Ray served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ticonderoga and the USS Oriskany during the Vietnam War and retired from Combustion Engineering in 2002 after 20 years of employment. Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be missed.He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Minnie Matthews Amerson; sisters, Laura Drake and Juanita Johnson; brother, James Richard Amerson; and brother-in-law, Casey Johnson.Ray is survived by his wife, of 44 years, Gail Amerson; children, Martie Currie, Kelly Amerson and Richie Amerson, all of Rossville; granddaughter, Katie Blankenship; great-grandson, Camerson Blankenship; special granddaughter, Mackenzie Begley; mother-in-law, Claudia Harris; several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, in the funeral home chapel, with Brother Kurt Pulver officiating.The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and prior to the service on Saturday.Arrangements by W.L.
