Stanley Knight

HOUSTON, Texas Stanley "Stan" Rogers Knight, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013.Stan was born Nov. 1, 1933 in South Pittsburg, Tenn., to Dero and Pearl Knight.Stan worked as a Quality Control Engineer for Combustion Engineering in Chattanooga prior to accepting a position with Gray Tool Co. and relocating to Houston in 1981. Stan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Texas State Rifle Association, Shriners International, The American Legion, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., USA and Grand York Rite of Kansas. Stan was an avid collector of firearms, enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading.Survivors include his son, Michael Knight and wife, Susan, of Houston; daughter, Kathy Schmidt and husband, Tim, of Katy, Texas; three grandchildren, Kathryn Loerch, Marc and Megan Schmidt; great-grandson, Henry Loerch; two sisters, Lucille Webb, of Jasper, Tenn., and Bertha Donahue, of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews also survive.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.Memorial services are pending.
