Louise Slatton

RINGGOLD Louise Stalvey Slatton passed away peacefully on Friday June 21, 2013 at a local health care facility. She was born Oct. 28, 1922 to Benjamin Franklin and Minnie Owensby Stalvey. She was a resident of Henagar, Ala., until May of 2011 when she moved to Ringgold, after the tornado on April 27, destroyed her home and she suffered a stroke. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Nolan E. Slatton; a granddaughter, Steffanie Slatton; 11 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Slatton was a devoted wife mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. She never said an unkind word about anybody. She enjoyed gardening, baking, quilting, card and board games. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by sons, Dewitt (Kathy) Slatton, Rodney (Gina) Slatton, all of Ringgold, Newman Slatton, Henagar; grandchildren, Mark Slatton, Jeff (Stacy) Slatton, Shauna Slatton, Eric Slatton, Andy (Trina) Slatton; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are today at 3 p.m. CST in the chapel with Bro. Jody Marston officiating. Private burial will be at Lakewood-South. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time today.
