ROSSVILLE Brenda Gail Goodroe Mayo, 71 departed this life Thursday, June 27, 2013. She was born in Alexander City, Ala., to the late Bennie Marshal Goodroe and Opal Goodroe Dahn. Brenda received her Bachelors Degree from UTC, Masters Degree from University of West Georgia, MED from Lincoln University, and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Society. She retired from Walker County School Board after 28 years of service there as an Educator, and was a member of South Rossville Baptist Church in Rossville, Georgia.She was also preceded in death her brother, Robert "Bob" Goodroe.Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Jack Mayo; children, Melissa (Andy) Roden, Joi (Skip) Ireland, Jay (Rose) Mayo; grandchildren, Drew (Rachel) Roden, Tyler Roden, Nicholas Wilson, Jack, Joshua, and Shelby Mayo.A special thanks to Brendas care takers, Sherry, Jennifer, Pam, Nancy, and Marlene for their love, and support during this difficult time.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, in the chapel with Rev. Eddie Rushing and Rev. Jeff Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. today and from Noon until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
