Nena Hill

Nena Olene Ferguson Hill passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013.She was born July 20, 1915, near Mineral Bluff, Ga., to parents Fletcher and Josephine Tarpley Ferguson. She was the second of seven children, and the oldest daughter. She was baptized at the age of 12 in the Church of God faith, but became a Baptist when she married Hoyt Hill in 1937. Her faith stood her well as she prayed two of her sons through overseas military deployments. They remained together until Hoyts death in 1977, raising three sons. A child of the Depression, she learned to "re-use and repurpose" years before the term was coined.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a stillborn daughter; son, Thomas William Hill; brothers, Kearney (Edith) Ferguson, Amos (Iliene) Ferguson, Kenneth (Lucille) Ferguson; sister, Ocie (Paul) Keith, and unnamed infant twin sisters; daughter-in -law, Anna Marie Stone (James) Hill.She is survived by sons, Donny Joe (Patricia) Hill, Signal Mountain and James Reid Hill, Red Bank; grandsons, Thomas Kelly Hill (Renee'), Morgan Kerry Hill, Benjamin Kenan Hill (Betsy), Joseph Andrew Hill (Dana), Tyler Clayton Hill (Kristi), William Edward Hill; granddaughter, Reida Ranay Gillespie, of Knoxville. She also is survived by 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Frances Welch, of Mineral Bluff, Ga.; many nieces and nephews; and her friend and decades long dear neighbor, Helen Gilreath.The family gratefully acknowledges the kind and loving care given to their mother by the staff of Life Care Center of Red Bank during her almost two year stay there.The family will receive friends from noon until 2:30 p.m. today, March 10, 2013, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North ChapelGraveside service will be conducted at Chattanooga Memorial Park at 3 p.m. with the Rev.
