JASPER Tommie L. Dennis, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.She was a member of Mt. Bethlehem Church for many years where she had served on the usher board, as Sunday school teacher and a Mother. She had worked in quality control at Tokiem.She was preceded in death by her parents, Benny W. Florence and Carrie Bryson Knox; and a son, Samuel R. Dennis III.She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, James K. (Patricia) Dennis, Gary R. (Valerie) Dennis, Dale A. Dennis, Sherman L. Dennis; daughters, Deborah Johnson, Alicia Dennis and Karen (William) Hudson; sister, Alice L. (Walter) Officer; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren nieces, nephews; and a special son, Bernard James.A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Mt. Bethlehem Church at 1 pm CDT Wednesday, March 20, 2013.Interment will follow in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.The body will lay in state at the funeral home from 9 a.m until 6 p.m. CDT today, with a wake from 6 until 8 p.m. CDT.
