Lillian Stenson

COLUMBUS Lillian Magnolia Stenson, 79, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital.Mrs. Stinson was born April 28, 1933, in Omaha, Ga., the daughter of the late Rev. Marshall and and Everell Matilda Stenson.Ms. Stenson was educated in the public school system of Troup County, she graduated from East Depot High School. Lillian excelled in mathematics and received a scholarship to attend Clark College (Clark, Atlanta University) in Atlanta, where she obtained her bachelors degree. She completed her graduate studies at the University of Georgia and Columbus College (Columbus State University) where she received her masters degree in education. She retired from Fort Benning Dependent Schools in 1999 after dedicated her life to children for 46 years. Mrs. Stenson was a member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church for 40 years. She leaves to cherish and honor her beautiful life her daughter, Amy Elizabeth Stenson, of Columbus, Ga.; three sisters, Ethel Stargill, of LaGrange, Ga., Matilda and John Rouse, of Decatur, Ga., Dorothy and Walter Stephens, of Chattanooga; three brothers, Rev. Marshall and Mary Stenson, of Macon, Ga., Rev. Howard and Racine Stenson, of Gallatin, Tenn., Rev. Michael and Dorothy Stinson, of LaGrange, Ga.; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.Please visit www.sconiersfuneralhome.com.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev.
