Emily Christison

Emily Christison McKenzie, 102, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at her beloved home of 64 years. She was born Sept. 10, 1911 in Methuen, Mass., to Emeldine and Gilbert Foss. She was the widow of John Christison and George McKenzie, D.D.S. She was a registered nurse and was employed at Orange Grove Center from where she retired in 1984 after 22 years of employment. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan Christison; her brother, Donald Foss; and her sister, Ida Taggart. She is survived by her children, Michael Christison of Marietta, Ga.; Martha Christison, of Marietta; Joan Christison-Lagay and her husband, Frank, of Boston, Mass.; Stephen Christison and his wife, Kate, of Waynesville, N.C.; and stepson, Timothy MacKenzie and his wife, Sarah, of Louisville, Tenn. She is also survived by her dear brother-in-law, David Christison and his wife, Pat, of Charlotte, N.C. She leaves grandchildren, Carol Christison; Emily Christison-Lagay; Kate Christison-Lagay; Jonathan Christison, his wife, Brendyl and sons, Jackson and Cashien; Matthew Christison; Caron Fontenette; Michael MacKenzie and his wife, Jennifer; Michelle Sheppard, her husband , Marcus, and sons, Nathan and Alan. She also leaves her niece, Susan Pringle and husband, Jon, of Essex Junction, Vt.; nephew, Howard Taggart and wife, Jan, of Marblehead, Mass.; and nieces, Sally Quinn of Nashua, N.H. and Jennifer Kelsey, of Clinton, Conn. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Ave Maria Circle, the Nancy Ward Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Chattanooga Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists and the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. Her funeral mass will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, with Father James Vick officiating. There will be a private burial at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel, 404 S. Moore Road from 3 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov 12, 2013, with a 5 p.m. Rosary Service. In lieu of flowers, the family request s donations be made to Orange Grove Center, Hospice of Chattanooga or the charity of choice.
