Ruth Harvey

Ruth Shelby Harvey, 80, of Hixson, died on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013.She was born in Hixson, Tenn., on Jan. 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Jake and Alto Shelby.Mrs. Harvey was a graduate of Hixson high School and retired from Provident Life Insurance Company. She was a member of Burks United Methodist Church and volunteered in numerous areas until her illness.Survivors include her husband, Charles Harvey; brother, David "Bud" Shelby; and several nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Amy Nutt officiating.The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 14, from 5-7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Burks United Methodist Church, 6433 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343 or Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.Arrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services; 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN. 423-531-3975.
