John Rolfes

John Thomas Rolfes, after a lengthy illness, John went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at the age of 68.He was born on Jan. 14, 1945. He was predeceased by his parents, Katherine Hinnigar and John Herman Rolfes who resided in Cincinnati, Ohio. Also two sisters, Dorothy Fothergill and Loretta Cain.He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nancy Denise Rolfes, of Dunlap, Tenn.; and three sons, John Jr (Connie), Steven James (Laura), and Christopher Mark (Brittany). His grandchildren are John Thomas Rolfes III, Thomas Ryan Parton, Steven James Rolfes, Abigail Rose Rolfes and Kylee Rolfes. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. John had two canine pals that he dearly loved and both Scruffy and MooMoo will miss him terribly.John served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War in 1965-66. He was employed by Consolidated Freightways, a trucking company for 38 years (he jokingly would say the T in his name stood for Trucking). He worked in various capacities but mostly as Linehaul Manager or Assistant Manager which consisted of overseeing the over-the-road truck drivers). He worked in Cincinnati, Ohio and was sent to Nashville to set up the department and over see the transfer when the company moved most of their drivers to Nashville in February, 1983. John worked closely with all the other departments of the company and helped train numerous supervisors.The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today and 12:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel.Funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Ron Crary officiating.Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.Honorary pallbearers are the Linehaul Staff of Consolidated Freightways.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.ChattanoogaNorthChapel.com.Arrangements are by the Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory & Florist, North Chapel, Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
