Alicia Bowman

Alicia Miller Bowman, 92, of Chattanooga, formerly of Tompkinsville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at the Manor House Assisted Living in Chattanooga.She was born April 9, 1921 in Monroe County, Ky., to the late Doc Miller and Marie Isenberg Miller. She was a retired school teacher and librarian, a member of the First Baptist Church in Tompkinsville and the widow of Billie D. Bowman who died March 25, 1975.In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, James Thomas "Jim Tom" Miller.Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Russ Willis, of Brentwood, Tenn., and Rebecca and Dr. Fred Steelman, of Soddy-Daisy, four brothers, George Miller, of Tompkinsville, Ky., Roger Miller, of Bowling Green, Ky., Jack Miller, of Franklin, Ind., and David Miller, of Georgetown, Ind.; two sisters, Juanita Meredith, of Bowling Green, Ky., and Sue Perkins, of Harrodsburg, Ky.; and six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Saturday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville and after noon at First Baptist Church.
