Barney Barton

Barney William Barton, 78, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 4, 2014, at his home surrounded by loved ones. Barney was born May 22, 1935 in Ringgold, Ga. and was a lifelong resident of the Ringgold area. He retired from Candlewick Yarns after 25 years. Barney was a devoted husband and father who loved his family. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a former member of Popular Springs Baptist Church. He was an active deacon for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E and Tinnie Stapp Barton; brother, Charles E Barton; and daughters, Amber and Tiffany. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Barbara Bowman Barton; children, Carolyn (Marvin) Ridge, Hixson, Tenn., Ben (Carolyn) Barton, Ringgold, Virginia (Roy Goff) Barton, St. Elmo, Tenn., Rodney (Jennifer) Barton, Kingsport, Tenn., Roger Barton, Ringgold, Wendy (Josh) Crawford, Chattanooga, Christy Barton and Christopher Barton Ringgold; special great-niece Natalie, Chattanooga; and many other children they loved over the years. Grandchildren, Kristen, Ryan, Bethany, Brandy, Brittany, Abbie, Caleb, Joshua, Julie Anna, and Jack; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Kenzley and Talon; brother, Murel Barton; sisters, Florene Caine, Margie Smith. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Rodney Barton officiating. Interment in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
