Mary McKenney

Mary Ruth Cline McKenney, formerly of Chickamauga, passed away on May 11, 2016, in Atlanta, Ga. She resided the past 11 yrs. at the Parc at Piedmont Senior Living after 82 years in Chickamauga. Mary the eldest of six children was born on Sept. 5, 1923, to the late Rufus and Annie Lois Cline in Chickamauga. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Ralph, in 2007, as well as her sister, Carolyn Fowler; and her brothers, George, Donald and Harold Cline. Mary grew up and attended school in Walker County and worked for many years at Crystal Springs Textiles. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Chickamauga and the TEL Euzelian Sunday School Class for more than 60 years. She also served as a volunteer in the gift shop at Hutcheson Memorial Hospital. She was passionate about her needlepoint, quilting, knitting afghans, gardening and baking,which she shared generously with family, friends and neighbors. Mary is survived by her daughter, Pat Brantley and her husband, Wayne of Marietta; brother, Lynn Cline and wife, Dianne, and their daughter, Stephanie, of Chattanooga; grandson, Lee Brantley, wife, Chelsea, and their daughters, Amelia and Anna Kate, of Lexington, S.C.; granddaughter, Laura Grooms, husband, Lance and their son, Brantley, of Marietta, Ga.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. We will miss her but we celebrate her life as she is in the gentle healing and loving care of our Lord. A graveside service will be held at Chickamauga City Cemetery on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at 2:15 p. m. Prior to the service, visitation at Wilson Funeral Home, Chickamauga will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday. Following the service, a reception will be held at home of Dianne and Lynn Cline at 3620 Glen Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37412. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marys honor to the First Baptist Church of Chickamauga, 603 West 7th St., Chickamauga GA 30707 or your favorite charity.
