Goldie Mae Parks Cunningham, 97, of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012.She was born on Feb. 4, 1915 in Luther, Okla. She was married to Clarence Cunningham in Pratt, Kan. on Oct. 19, 1935. They resided on a small farm near Cunningham, Kan. for over 50 years until her husbands passing. She then moved to Colorado Springs, Colo.,and later to Chattanooga. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga.Mrs. Cunningham was preceded in death by her son, Danny Cunningham; her parents, William and Lizzie Parks; sisters, Ruth Shepard, Martha McIntire and Esther Combs; brothers, Clarence, Robert and John Parks.Goldie will be remembered as a very alert, "spunky" little lady who enjoyed chatting, keeping up on current affairs (especially golfing and the Denver Broncos) and spending time with her family. In her younger years, she loved to dance and at recent birthday parties she would be twirled around in her wheelchair and her feet would be tapping! She will be greatly missed by those who knew her and would best be described as a "survivor" for through each trial, illness and heartache, she never quit. A special thank you is extended to the nurses and staff of Alexian Brothers, Brother Andrew and Dr. Berry.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and William Harding; grandsons, Christopher and Jonathan Harding, all of Rock Spring, Ga.; sister, Nancy Culbertson, Weed, Calif. and Anna Mae Combs, Independence, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Virginia Greer, of Langdon, Kan. and Lucille Pomeroy, of Maryland.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Second Presbyterian Church, 700 Pine St., Chattanooga, with Dr. Perry McCallen officiating.Burial will follow in Rock Spring Cemetery. Mrs. Cunningham will lie-in-state one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.To share expressions of sympathy, visit family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
