Margie SimsMargie Finney Newson Sims, formerly of Chattanooga, died She was born May 2, 1943 to the late Charles Finney Sr. and Charlie Finney-Anderson in Chattanooga and eldest of 5 siblings. She attended Howard High School and UTC continuing education courses. She worked 21 years as a Developmental Therapist, and House Parent for Orange Grove Retardation Center during which time she enriched the lives of her students to independently perform effective self-care. Prior to that, she was the first Title IX Chairperson for the Chattanooga "Head Start" program. She served as Director of Youth Choir at Olivet Baptist Church from 1972 to 1979 and later transferred membership to New Enon Baptist Church. Her late husband, Robert L. Sims, Jr. preceded her in deathSurvivors are daughters: Wanda Faye Edwards, Coral Spgs, Fla., Debra Newson, Chattanooga, Norma "Dee" Newson, Sylvester, Ga.; grandchildren: Kevin Jr. & Jerel Hamlett, Trisha McCutchen, Byron King, Jr., Kevin Woods, Jr.; great-grandchildren: Trinity, Chase & Justis Hamlett; sisters: Doris Burch, Joyce Finney, Luradell Robinson (Robert T Robinson, Jr.) all of Chattanooga; nieces: Linda Burch, Sarita Burch (Chattanooga), Johnetta Hanns (Carl) (Clarksville, TN); nephews: Ralph Boston, Rodney (Rhonda), Gregory Robinson, Michael Robinson (Michelle), John Burch, Jr. (Tammy) (Chattanooga), Robert T. Robinson (Sharon) (Virginia); 21 great nieces/nephews, a host of other relatives and dear friends including Alma Rogers, Gloria Ward (Chattanooga) and special friends in Sylvester, GA. Viewing will be Saturday at 12 noon in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 1 p.m. Burial: Forest Hills Cemetery.
