Billy Vaughn


CHICKAMAUGA Billy Jack Vaughn, 72, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012. He was born Dec. 20, 1939 in Grundy County, Tenn., to the late Leonard and Nannie Belle Vaughn. He lived in Alabama and North Georgia most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He worked for Crystal Springs for several years, McMinnville Freight Lines and Milan Express as a truck driver where he was awarded the Million Mile Plaque Safety Award and he retired in 2003. He enjoyed his home, gardening and helping his neighbors. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Levoy "Red" Lacy, David Vaughn and Doyle Vaughn; two sisters, Brenda Barrett and Louise Turner. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Sara Ann Slater Vaughn; sister, Peggy (Sammy) Harmon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4 - 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012. A short service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the funeral home stateroom with Reverend Wilton Grimes officiating.
