Lamar Burns, 68, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at his residence.He was a resident of Soddy-Daisy most his life and a faithful member of Covenant Church. Lamar served his country in the U.S Navy on the USS Ticonderoga during the Vietnam War. He worked in law enforcement for 30 years including the Hamilton County and Marion County Sheriff's Department and the Soddy-Daisy Police Department. Lamar loved his family and the Lord.He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Louise Burns; and son, Mark Burns. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Kathy Hilton Burns; sons, Micah Burns, Jarrod Durham; daughters, Carrie Durham and Sherri Banther; grandchildren, Corbin McGlamery and Preston Marlin all of Soddy-Daisy; brother, Johnnie (Shirley) Burns, of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.Services will be Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Adam Clagg officiating.
