KNOXVILLE Richard Southwell Martin, 64, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2013.He was a native of Chattanooga. Mr. Martin was a graduate of Baylor High School, attended the University of Tennessee, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Navy. He was a third generation president of John Martin Co. Inc. which was established in 1931 and constructed many buildings in Chattanooga including Notre Dame High School, Our Lady of the Mount, Saint Augustine, UTC Catholic Student Center, and OLPH Family Life Center and school additions. He also worked for Winesett-Hill Constructors, Inc of Hixson. Mr. Martin was an active member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church.In death, Mr. Martin, has given the gift of life as an Organ Donor. He was preceded in death by his father, John Martin Jr. He is survived by his wife, Kristin; his son, Frank; and his daughter, Julie (Richard) Ash; grandchildren, Juliet, Mason, and Ray Ash; his stepson, Brett Gerth; his mother, Jane Martin; brothers, Jack (Susie) and Bob Martin; sisters, Lynn (Bobby) Crantford, Pat Lawhorn, Joanne (Bill Toop) Martin, Nancy (Pat) Neuhoff, Susan (Robert) Blasius and Pam (Joe) Franklin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret (Winnie) Peluau; sisters-in-law, Kim Carman and Kellee (Greg) Horner; and many nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Andrews United Methodist Church, 4240 Plummer Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918.Visitation from 10 a.m.-noon prior to memorial service at noon on Saturday, April 11, 2013, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church.
