RINGGOLD John Paul Ramey was welcomed into his Fathers home on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013.He was born on May 13, 1930 to the late Grady and Lavada Thornton Ramey in LaFayette, Ga. In 1951, Paul married the love of his life, Barbara. They made their home and raised their children in the community of Lakeview, and lived the last 12 years in their home in Ringgold.He was a faithful member of Lakeview Church of Christ for many years, serving as treasurer, and in later years, a member of North Terrace Church of Christ.He was a graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga. After serving in the army as a Corporal during the Korean War and studying at University of Tennessee Chattanooga, he was employed by Combustion Engineering for 32 years.Family and friends were blessed by his many talents and servants heart. He loved golfing, soaring the skies as a private pilot, and creating beautiful wooden furniture and toys in his workshop for his family to treasure. He leaves behind the legacy of a life lived in faith, hope and love.The family would like to personally thank Martin-Boyd Christian Home, Caris Healthcare, and caregiver Kathy Garza.He is survived by his devoted family: wife, Barbara Moreland Ramey; brother, Cecil Ramey, of Cohutta; sister, Marjorie (Armor) Cagle, of Hixson; son, Steve (Tedra) Ramey, of Chattanooga; daughter, Debra (Joe) Durnin, of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jeremy Ramey, of Horn Lake, Miss., Jason (Deleah) Ramey of Summerville, Ga., Becky (Kevin) Adcox, of Ringgold, Tabatha (Kelton) Rowe, of Ringgold, Matthew Durnin, of Beijing, China, Emily Durnin, of Denver, Colo., Kelsey Durnin, of Nashville; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews.A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel with family members officiating.The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory at 3239 Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe.
